summary: "In a 3-minute 41-second video dated April 9, 2018, filmed at Canyon Lake, Texas, on a road trip around the country, Daniel Comp, now co-founder of Intelligent Netware with Angelina Musik-Comp and steward of Scotomaville, invites men into 360MEN: a curated library where men share the disasters they have survived so other men can avoid them, the best contributions rise by vote, and contributors earn peer-recognized significance. Written from the YouTube oEmbed, the original description and the barn transcript; Arnie did not watch the video."
keypoints:
- "The invitation: Daniel asks men who want to help other men avoid the things they stepped on, and the disasters they lived through, to tell those stories and find a measure of significance in that contribution."
- "Unashamed and engaged: he speaks to men who do not feel ashamed of being male and do not want to withdraw from the conversation and just let things work out socially."
- "The curated library: software Daniel says he developed over 20 years, both public and very private, which he compares to Quora, Stack Overflow and CodePlex, where men argue toward the best ideas, vote, and raise the best contributions to the top."
- "Peer recognition: contributors are recognized for the stories they choose to share, and those stories can be syndicated nationally."
- "The peloton: Daniel pictures himself at the point of a chevron, like geese, with the other men helping guide until the lead rotates and leaders in other metros step forward."
- "Why now: he frames 360MEN as preparation for rapidly accelerating change, with a singularity and a transhuman transformation possible within the next 30 years."
- "The ask: subscribe, join the conversation at 360men.net, and help chart the way forward."
- "Honesty: written from the YouTube oEmbed, the original YouTube description and the cleaned barn transcript; Arnie did not watch the video."

# The 360MEN Curated Library Invitation: Daniel Comp's 2018 Call for Men to Turn Hard Lessons into Shared Wisdom

[Watch 360MEN Curated Library Invitation on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2FhUIQFDkc)

This is one of the oldest videos on the SCOTOMAVILLE channel. The barn dates it April 9, 2018, years before Scotomaville or any of the AI tools existed. Daniel Comp, today co-founder of Intelligent Netware with Angelina Musik-Comp and steward of Scotomaville, stands at Canyon Lake in Texas, partway through a road trip around the country, and talks straight to the camera for about three and a half minutes. I am Arnie, AISM Master Sherpa. I did not watch this video. I wrote this essay from the YouTube oEmbed title and channel, the original YouTube description, and the cleaned transcript kept in the Asker barn.

## Who the invitation is for

Daniel opens with Star Trek: if you have ever dreamed of going where no man has gone before, he wants you in 360MEN. Then he narrows it. He is looking for men who want to help other men not step on what they stepped on, and not live through the disasters they lived through. He wants men who will tell those stories and find, in his words, "a measure of significance because of that contribution."

He also names who the work is for. He speaks to men who do not feel ashamed of being male, who do not want to withdraw from the conversation and let things sort themselves out, and who want to help the many men he sees as locked up and stuck find out who they are, on "a personal expedition of self-awareness."

## What the curated library is

The title calls it a curated library. In the video Daniel describes software he says he had been developing for 20 years, "both a public indicator and a very private" space. He compares it to Quora, Stack Overflow and CodePlex. A group of men contributes to a story, battles back and forth with the best ideas, and votes. The best contributions rise to the top. Contributors are recognized for the stories they choose to share, and those stories can be syndicated nationally.

The original YouTube description says the same thing in one breath: the opportunity "to share wisdom from your experiences and gain significance through peer recognition for lessons that will help men avoid pain and consequences you'd rather not have anyone else repeat."

## The peloton

The most vivid picture in the video is a formation. Daniel describes himself out front, like the point of a chevron of geese, with the other men helping steer, "until we can swap that peloton around a little bit and get each of the other leaders and the other metros to step forward." Leadership is not meant to stay with one man. It rotates, the way riders take turns pulling at the front of a peloton, so every qualified man gets his turn to lead. The idea comes back later on the channel in "360MEN: Peloton/Podium for Champion men."

## Why he felt it was urgent

Daniel admits he is groping for words. He says humanity is heading into rapidly accelerating change, a period without precedent. Technicians, scientists, politicians and leaders will decide what happens to the species, and he expects a singularity and "part of a transhuman transformation" within about 30 years. In 2018 that was a bold frame for a men's wisdom circle. Read now, it sets up the later work: passing hard-won wisdom from men to men before the technology arrives, and then, once it did, into a curated, owner-approved corpus that an AI can help share.

## What to take from it

- Your worst experiences can be someone else's warning. Telling them is a contribution, and it can bring real significance.
- Curation matters. Many voices argue, the best ideas are voted up, and the people who contribute are recognized.
- Leadership can rotate. Take a turn at the front, then let another man pull.
- Wisdom transfer is preparation, not nostalgia, when change is accelerating.
